Heat, cold,
and the coast.

A quiet sauna and cold plunge experience on the coast of midcoast Maine. Built for solitude, for friends, for the long slow ritual of warming and cooling and beginning again.

A Practice

An old ritual — heat from a wood fire, then cold water from somewhere close to the sea, then rest — quietly rebuilt for the Maine coast.

Sessions, for any rhythm.

Whether you arrive alone, with a friend, or with a small gathering, each session moves at the same unhurried tempo — warm, cool, rest, repeat.

The Ritual

A slow arc.

Five quiet steps, from when you arrive to when you leave. There is no wrong way to move through it — only your own.

— one

Arrive slowly.

You step out of the car. The light is low. The air smells like salt and woodsmoke. You don't need to hurry — there is nowhere to be but here.

— two

Leave the day behind.

A warm, lamp-lit room. Hooks. A bench. A folded towel. Whatever you came in with stays here for the next hour.

— three

Settle into heat.

The sauna is dark and warm. The wood fire ticks. Steam lifts off the stones. Twelve minutes will feel like an afternoon — let it.

— four

Step into cold.

The plunge is at North Atlantic temperatures. The breath catches. The shoulders relax. Hold for as long as it feels honest to hold.

— five

Go home lighter.

Cold air on warm skin. Penobscot Bay in the distance. Whatever you brought in is on the bench behind you. The world is still where you left it, but quieter now.

Yes. The Private Buyout reserves the entire space for up to eight people. It's well-suited to offsites, recovery for athletes, birthdays, or quiet evenings with close friends.
Especially through winter. The contrast between the heat of the sauna and the Maine cold is the heart of the practice — most regulars say January and February are the finest months to come.
You will. The Solo session is the gentlest place to begin. Take the heat for as long as feels right, take the cold for as long as feels honest, rest as much as you'd like in between.
